Following a successful well attended inaugural night for the Doune Film Club a new date has been set for its second screening and keen community members are to meet to plan how best to take the club forward.
To keep the momentum going from the screening of Rowan Atkinson’s James Bond spoof Jonny English, the Hurt Locker will be shown at 7.30pm on Saturday 25th March. The 2008 American war film about a three-man bomb disposal team during the Iraq War was a multi-award winner at the 2010 BAFTA’s and OSCAR’s. Admission will be free and refreshments available. There will also be a raffle to help cover costs.
Further plans for the future are also in the pipeline. A meeting will be held at 8pm on Monday 25th March in the Information Centre. Graham Brown, the man behind the first screenings told Doune.co:
“We now have four or five people who are willing to be part of an organising group. The next stage is to decide on what sort of film club we want to be, how to fund it and to look at applying for grants to fund any equipment, black-out blinds or even seat cushions we might need.”
All community members are invited to the film screening and the meeting.
