Doune.co aims to provide an easily accessible gateway to everything you need to know about the Doune, Deanston and surrounding area, its history and environment, together with local news, activities, groups, businesses and events. It will also provide invaluable information to visitors and new residents, and promote the area, its heritage, and local businesses in the best possible light to the wider world.
The initial funding for the site has been provided by Doune’s Key Facilities Management based in the Old Pistol Factory but other local businesses have already signed up, through advertising and taking enhanced Business Directory entries, which will help to pay for the ongoing maintenance costs of the site.
Any profits generated by the site will be ploughed back into IT related community projects. A non-profit social enterprise Community Interest Company called Doune CIC has been set up to ensure full transparency and accountability.
The project is being run by a group of local residents including Gordon Mitchell, Val Morgan, Ray Donaldson, and Jamie Hamilton.
The group is keen to stress that Doune.co should be ‘For the community, by the community’, and that all local residents are invited to contribute to the ongoing development of the site.
Finally, the members of Doune CIC would like to thank everyone who has helped in the preparation, development and ongoing maintenance of the site, including Key Facilities Management and other local businesses, The Bridge, the Kilmadock Development Trust, the Kilmadock Community Council and each of the community groups.
